Test of the Dragon Dictation app for the iPad

This is from a piece in the New England Journal of Medicine entitled "Modernizing Device Regulation." Here's the resulting dictated test using the iPad's built-in microphone with the corrections noted. The program stopped transcribing, not finishing the third paragraph, and this seems to be the limit of its processing power. "Fundamental differences between devices and drugs have important implications for FDA regulation. The typical device is an engineered product, rather than a chemical compound like a conventional drug or biological [biologic] agent. "The effects of a minor modification in the structure of a truck [drug] are rarely predictable enough to obviate the need for clinical trials. In contrast, the effects of modifications of devices are often predictable. But [A] screw can be changed, [a] battery redesign[ed] for [or] replaced with a longer-lasting alternative. "A series of small changes, however, can collectively lead to entirely new functions and, potentially, risks. Pacemakers, for example, have much [...]" You can correct the text within the program and then forward it via email, so this app might be useful for dictating a quick email message, but it's really necessary to proofread it carefully.
